I began my career as an RMT after many years of competitive swimming at a National Level.

In 2009 I graduated from the 3000 hour program at the West Coast College of BC. Upon completing the program I worked as a therapist in Blue River BC for Mike Wiegele’s Helicopter Skiing Lodge during the winter seasons. More recently, I’ve worked with the Canadian Olympic Ski Cross team, including being their RMT for the 2018 Winter Olympics Games in Pyeongchang Korea, where we brought home 2 golds and a silver.

On moving back to Vancouver I became involved with the mountain bike community, working with elite racers on both the BC Bike Race and Transrockies multi day race. My experience as an athlete has lead me to focus on sports massage, deep tissue, myofascial and sports related injuries. Outside the treatment room I’m an avid mountain biker, snowboarder/skier, I’ve competed in triathlons including Ironman and ultra running.

Lara Menzies massage career began in 2004 when she graduated from the Shiatsu Therapy training at Langara College. Drawing on her experience working in spas in Vancouver and Whistler, Lara created a signature massage, which combines oil massage with acupressure (a sustained perpendicular pressure) and energy work. In 2011, after working at a Heli-lodge for a ski season, she opened her own clinic in Squamish. Following her passion to continuously develop as a therapist, Lara returned to school and graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapists in December 2014. She became a Registered Massage Therapist in May 2015 after her successful completion of the CMTBC boards’ exams. This training has opened up a vast world of knowledge within the healing therapies. Lara’s continued thirst for knowledge keeps her studying and reviewing client cases. Engaging with her clientele through clinical assessment and questioning, allows Lara to explore the root causes of dysfunction. Lara combines her shiatsu acupressure with myofascial massage and trigger point therapy. She will encourage you to use your breath throughout the massage, as this is a key factor in allowing the body to release. Gaining a healthy balance with massage therapy can only be supported with a homecare regime (stretches, strengthening, and hydrotherapy). This is the ultimate key to your success. Lara will assist you in understanding what your postural patterns are by bringing awareness and giving you tips to improve your posture. Lara has lived, worked, and played in Squamish for 11 years. She enjoys mountain biking, skiing, yoga, hiking and trail running. Lara is strong and gentle yet passionate about her career and looks forward to working with you and helping in any way that she is able.
